¶ Very interesting album, unfortunately without contents. Leopold Deflinne (1791-1846) became bookbinder of Willem I, king of the Netherlands, after a visit of the king to his workshop in Doornik (Tournai) in 1829. On Deflinne: see Sorgeloos. les Deflinne: quatre générations de libraires et relieurs à Tournai aux XVIIIe et XIXe siècles. Extremely rare example of a freemason binding of a royal binder, w. beautiful, detailed and meaningful giltstamping.

¶ Completely handmade and calligraphed book, made by the firm Grevenstuk & Harts in Amsterdam, and calligraphed by them. Antonie Grevenstuk (1828-1896), vice-president of "De Nederlandsche Drukpers" (organizer of the parade), had his own shop in Amsterdam, and became calligrapher to Prins Hendrik in 1877. These include, for example, Lettergieterij Tetterode, Stoomwerktuigenfabriek Paul van Vlissingen & Dudok van Heel, Firma Van Heel & Holtzman, fabriek van Cycloop IJzerwerken, Diamantslijperij Maatschappij M.E. Coster, and the Bemanning der Medea en Urania (of the KNSM). Also all printed ephemera and a memorial coin are inserted in the book. D.G.
